Belur Math

The headquarter of Ramakrishna Mission and Math, founded by Swami Vivekananda, is Belur Math, situated on the west bank of River Hooghly and is dedicated to Ramakrishna Paramahansadev. The main idols kept here are Ramakrishna, Sarda Devi, and Vivekananda. It has a museum, educational institution in the complex. The monks of the Math are devoted to serving mankind. The service of the math is open for all irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. Though basically, they follow Hinduism, their work goes beyond religion. Peoples from all religions coming to visit this math and visitors from all over the world coming here to see the serene and beautiful atmosphere of the Math. It has branches all over the world.
