Karva Chauth or Karwa Chauth is an important festival observed by married Hindu women for the well-being of their husbands.
Women observe strict fasting from Sunrise to Moonrise for the longevity and safety of their husbands.
As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the fourth day of the Krishna paksha of Kartik month.
The festival is observed in the month of Ashwin in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and South India.
In the northern states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh Karva Chauth is observed on a large scale with great fervor and zeal. It is held on the 4th day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartika.
