Holika Dahan, a Hindu Festival also called Kamudu Pyre is celebrated on the night before Holy. The festival is celebrated by burning of Holika, an asuri.
As per legend, The sister of King Hiranyakashipu and the aunt of Prahalad Holika was a Demoness and tried kill Prahalad, but Prahalad was chanting the name of Lord Narayana, In turn, Narayana save Prahlad due to his extreme devotion but burnt Holika, the asuri.
To Commemorate the event Holika Dahan is performed by the Hindus. People lit a huge bonfire.
