Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated from 10th September, 2021 to 19th September, 2021 with great enthusiasm. It honours the birth of the beloved elephant headed Hindu God, Lord Ganesh.
The festival started with huge, elaborately crafted statues of Ganesh installed in Homes and Pandals, decorated nicely.
At the end of the festival procession is organised and the statues are are taken one after another through the streets with much of singing, dancing and lighting. Finally the images are submerged in Water like Ocean, River or lakes.
In most places idols are small and no public processions are arranged. This festival is celebrated mostly in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
The best place to experience the festival is in the city of Mumbai. It is a spectacular 11-day long festival organised mainly by the Marathi people.
